Revlon Hair Review
Okay so I finally dyed my hair [Revlon 150 red].
First of all let me say this product was a waste of money. It was $4 at Walmart and came with a dollar off coupon so I paid $3. I followed all the instructions on the box, yet my hair rarely lifted. The box says that color will be vibrant but my hair turned a very dark burgundy color. My hair looks more like a rinse instead of a permanent color....

Croatan: Where the Sidewalk Really Ends →
travestyintechnicolour:
The end did not look like a challenge. In retrospect, there was not enough finality to it, just a boldly striped plank groaning on weak wood supports. It did not look like a place where “The sun burns crimson bright” or a place where “the grass grows soft and white”. It was all a…

Communism would work if people weren't so damn...
Capitalism is a system that favours the rich, who happen to be a minority in any society, over the poor. It feeds off of greed, the hunger for more. That’s why only the people living in dirt poor conditions favour communism over capitalism. After all, communism thrives only where there is poverty.
Am I a communist? Maybe not but I wish we could just get over this selfish,...

End Point (Another Rant)
I just seem to be so fired up today. I don’t know why I’m so angry! No, wait, it’s because the world is messed up and we willingly accept this. In fact, we go beyond accepting and we EMBRACE IT!! For crying out loud!!
I want to talk about democracy because it seems that the USA and like-minded Western countries believe that it’s okay for them to shove it down our throats....

Stop The Pity (Another Rant)
I think it’s safe to say that we live in a pretty misogynistic society. Where we pretend to be on the side of women, vying for their rights in the eye of the public simply because feminism is a force that can no longer be suppressed.
I speak from the perspective of an African female and the amount of pity people express because of what I am is simply disgusting. I don’t need no damn...

Women’s education – The path to the Presidency in... →
anonymissexpress:
BLANTYRE, (IPS) – On an elegant veranda adorned with a red carpet, Malawi’s Vice President Joyce Banda recalls how her childhood friend Chrissie Mtokoma was always top of their class and how she struggled to beat her. But now decades later Banda is a likely contender for the country’s presidency in 2014, while Mtokoma lives in poverty. “She went to school in the village...

Tonight....
I stood on the roof of my apartment building, watching the night sky glow iridescent from the street lamps and open windows. The air was heavy with longing and as I peered over the edge I saw flecks of traffic between the tree leaves, planes flying out from Lantau Island, I wondered who was flying out, going home, leaving all that they knew behind but for the first time, I didn’t feel pangs...

Signs That We Ignored
On the day that you meet the love of your life,
leave me.
Do not leave behind a note inked with half-hearted apologies
yellowing from neglect, when we said that this was not permanent, we meant exactly that.
I just hope she can cradle your palms like newly born supernovas bursting from the edges of galaxies;
May your fingers interlock with the comforting promise
that she wears the pair of shoes...

Pens and Cages
I wrote you a love song and taped it across your wrist
not knowing my letters would sink ink pen stains into your skin and you’d bleed mercury.
So I trapped your heart in a cuboid rat cage and fed it sweet nothings to ease the bleeding but your fingernails dug themselves into my iris and excavated my soul,
your skeleton formed a key from the fragments of the razor edges of my tongue, you...

Voiceless
Being a spoken word artist, and a new one at that, your biggest fear is forgetting your poem on stage. This happened to me last night. I forgot my poem.
The worst thing is that it was for a charity, United World Schools, which does amazing things in Cambodia and Sri Lanka. Anyway, I managed to get the first few lines of the poem then after that it went downhill!! So the rest of the poem was...
